hahaha.....maybe i will start collecting coins...then maybe, just MAYBE,on my deathbed, i can have someone run out with all my coins and buy me that Les Paul. joking...and in defense of your comment to the young lady i believe...it's very diffucult to "read" some one's tone in text's or message's....i also "see" how she read it...i'm the same with spelling. i use spellcheck often, even on simple words. it suggested i capatalize Les Paul....and thanx, it is kind of fun looking through all these coins.........

I don't use control coins - never needed to.
Hypothetical case - if I found a 1976 cent that I thought had a doubled die on it, I would stick it back in a 'maybe' spot and save it until I could find another dozen 1976 coins to which I could compare my find. If it still looked odd after comparison, I would ask someone else about it.
I basically wouldn't even ask until I exhausted other avenues of making sure what I thought I had was actually what I had. That's just my spin and how I would do it - not saying anyone else isn't welcome to their own way of doing things.
Even still sometimes I will set aside a 1982 cent thinking it was just a little thicker than normal, wait for a number of other coins to come along, and compare them. I usually end up tossing back the 'finds' because I realize they aren't significantly different enough to consider them anything of interest.Charles D. Hi
Chuck makes a great point. I try to do the same. After sometime I go back and check. After a while you just know what is or is not a error/varaity. Good advice for all collectors in my opinion.
Thanks chuck!
