Mini Coins? Any heard of these?

I got suckered into buying these. They are just so darn cute! Even hubby thinks so. But where and why are they here?

They are placed in a quarter 2x2 holder and there are a total of 7 mini coins in here. I'm sure they are only novelty but does anyone know any history of these mini's?

I've seen these in gold coins and silver dollars, never just the common change. I'm guessing the why is the same as any novelty. To make a profit.

I don't know. But why would someone possibly conceive making coins THAT small. Even for novelty it doesn't really make much cents.

There is an electrolysis process being done to make these coins.

Somewhere here in my mess (collection) I purchased one a few years ago and they actually shrink the coins and they weigh the same amount as the regular coin. I will see if I can find it (the coin) and the Link to the site if it is still up and going. I think your coins and mine the same.

                  ADDED:
I found the coin and it is a 2005-D Kansas 25Cent which has been shrunk down to the size of a Roosevelt 10 Cents and weighs 5.67 Grams the same original weight.

That is cool Joe. I wish mine were like that! One quarter covers all 7 coins! They are definitely not shrunk like yours is. you've got the real McCoy, I've only got the decoy, lol

I recognize these. In addition to coin collecting I am also an amateur magician...I do a few tricks where I can turn a large coin into a smaller coin. And yet, I can't make a 1955-DDO appear....

I thought they were shrunk by washing in really hot water followed by a really high heat dryer... LOL!!!
