I picked up an uncirculated 1852 Large Cent today from my local coin store. I noticed that it might have a repunched date. Thoughts? Thanks for looking!
That coin looks just like this one of mine. I got this one when I was 13 years old, (about 42 years ago) and was told then that it was a 're-cut' or re-engraved date. Either way, it is one of my favorites and I am glad to see another copy of it out there. Congrats on the great coin!
Simon: Thanks for the link. My coin matches up very well.
Roger: I got this coin for my type set but after seeing the RPD, I started to do a little research on them. I agree, there are a lot of RPDs for the series.
Bob: Thank you for sharing your story! I think this is my new favorite coin in my type set.
