    Ripple effect in field

I am finding a rippling effect in the fields on the 2000,2001 ,2002 Lincoln pennies Can some one tell me what causes this..
Also on the same years and later coin. I am finding a bubbling effect on these pennies I thought at first it was a die break , but there a quite a few of these
in my coins ---- Any help would be appreciated .

    Maruawe,

While photos are going to be necessary to tell you for sure, it sounds like you are describing plating bubbles and other plating issues. Very common on zinc plated cents.

Could be gas bubble under the plating? But images would help.

As noted, plating blisters - very common. They appear during the strike from the heat and pressure.

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

It is hard for me to tell the difference between a die break and some of these plating faults Is there a proven way to do that
