    1921 Canadian Cent

    Hey gang,
Had a little time to relax today while my girls were away and found this old Canadian cent in a bank roll. Made me think of Chugly's post last week of finding a similar one. This is my oldest Canadian cent found so far:

    That's a cool one.
Makes me realize I have not made a mental note as to how many or how old any of my Canadians finds have been.

Nice find and its actually worth about 1.00-2.00 in that condition, the 1921 Canada cent had a mintage of 7,601,627, keep your eye out for the 1922, 23, 24, an 25 because those are the real rare coins and compare with the mintages of our early Lincolns at appp. 1, 000,000 each.

Thanks for that info, Jeff. I don't know the first thing about Canadian coinage, but another area of numismatics to explore. This coin has a nice wholesome look to it, and what a beautiful design!
Funny how Chugly was just recently taking about finding one out in Washington State, and one pops up here in NJ.

Thank you DCW my Canada cent collection is one of my small triumphs, I have it completed from 1895 to 2012, with all major varieties.

Very nice! 1921 is a pretty uncommon one. I think we have all learned more about these in the past week. Keep up the good work!

              Canadian cent

My earliest Canadian cent found is from 1920. So years 22-25 are the rare ones to look out for.

              Thanks,
              Chris

I completed 1900 to 2008 with most varieties....never even saw the 1953 with straps...then sold them...
after the recent post... I think I may start up the collection...got the urge to do it again...

In Rochester, do you find or see a lot of coins considering location? I would guess you would probably find a lot more in bank rolls submitted by people to local banks up your way. I usually find about one Canadian cent every 3 or 4 rolls I get at our local bank here in Pa.

                    Nice find DCW.

LOL. I find Canadien cents all the time, plus I have about 100.00 in Canadien change I can't do anything with, I run the coffee club at work and you would not believe how many people off their Canada change on me. I have found some silver though, the Canadiens did not stop making Silver coins until 1968, so up until1952 the halves are 92.5% silver, and from 1952 -1967 they are 80% Silver. The dimes and quarters I believe are 80% silver from app. 1932 til 1968.
