Hurricane Quick Map Access and Path Trajectory

    Dear friends,

Posting quick links for you if you need updates on the hurricane fast without the hub-bub weather channel nonsense.

National Hurricane Center has rather good imagery.

    http://www.noaa.gov/stormcentral/ <-- main site

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/#SANDY <-- specifics about hurricane Sandy

http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/qui...ata/SANDY.html <-- quick look and guesswork

Hope some of these links help. Looks like my State is already getting flooded.

Be safe. Don't take chances. And lose your pride if you need help, ask for it. Be safe.

Hurricanes are not something to fool with. I have experienced 17 hurricanes of varying intensity from 1957 when living in Long Island and got hit with two, to two more in Hawaii, four when in Guam, three in Key West, Florida and six while living in central Florida. Stay indoors and if you are asked to evacuate, do so with utter haste.

Good luck everyone! I certainly hope this isn't as bad as it looks right now! Living in boring Eastern Washington does have its advantages once in a while.

Thanks for the links. It looks like the eye is heading directly for us! So on a positive note, maybe we will have a brief respite when the eye passes through, lol. So far in my area the rain and wind have been steady but not overwhelming, but the worst is yet to come. Looks much uglier at the coast. I'll try to check in periodically until the power goes bye-bye. Good luck to everyone!

I am starting to wish I hadn't looked at the rainfall totals. I live right at the arrow:

The thing to remember about sandbags. Yes, they do keep water from coming in from outside the wall, BUT they also do not allow what rain falls inside the sandbag wall to come out. Rain is not shed by a wall.

Stay safe you guys! I've never been in a real hurricane before but I had encountered a huge freak storm in Florida one time. Hunker down and hopefully it will pass quickly!

Yeah I know, but at least no more will come in unless it gets to high

Alex, if 7 inches fall outside of the sandbag wall, 7 inches will fall inside of it as well.

Rats!!! I knew I shouldn't have built that thing on the downhill side of the house!

Does anyone remember how many cubits long an ark is supposed to be? Ah, the guy at Home depot wouldn't sell me wood by the cubit anyway.

Since 1957 I have been experiencing the devastation of hurricanes until now (SANDY). Ladies and Gentlemen this is serious. Water is more devastating than the wind and when the two work together it is much worse. Find a safe place and prepare for the worst. In Jamaica we get several every year and the island usually get buffeted ,homes are destroyed and roads get washed out. and power is usually out for weeks......so you get a sense of how bad it can become. Stay safe.

This is what water can do in just a tropical storm.

There is a freeway somewhere under this water.
