Thanks! An MS Coronet Large Cent was on my want list for a while. I got some graduation money and was told to spend it on a coin for my collection. I set a max of about $600. This one cost me $450, $100 below NGC price guide. Very happy with it. I imagine it is from the Randall Hoard. Also a fan of the cool circular die crack.Comment

This is a new pickup that I really like. I wanted a 1800s proof and this one was available for a great price (under $400 with eBay bucks).Attached FilesComment

This is the oldest coin that I ever found laying on the ground. 1898 O Barber Dime.
My wife and I purchased some land that had been recently subdivided farm land. While building the house and after the drain field had been buried for the septic system, I stared walking around the yard picking up upturned rocks and other junk. I was looking to clear the land of stuff I would not like to hit with my lawnmower, when I picked up this dime along with a few small pieces of glass from a mason jar.
The coin is just as I found it, well worn but certainly not weather beaten. I suspect the farmer buried the jar with some coins. Furthermore I suspect that I got last dibs on the booty when it was unearthed.
Anybody in North Georgia handy with a Metal Detector?

Don't shoot me for digging this thread up but I just found it.
I will go with some of the varieties I have found in older coins except for the Large Cent, it's one of my favorites.
The 1890 is FS#-10-005.5 blundered die
The 1872 is FS#-1/2 10-004 DDO
The 1853 is a repunched date
The1836 is a clashed die obv. and rev.
And the 1856 lg. cent is just beautiful to me!So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. JohnComment
