Not 100% sure without digging it out of the closet Alex, I know it isn't one of the high $ ones but should be perfect for me as a beginner to see if I actually enjoy it and can find enough "legal places" to do it. When I get it out I will let you know.

EDIT: Found it in my Amazon "own it list" I usually add gifts to amazon so it generates recommendations. See it HERE, seems to have good reviews for beginners.

Ha! That's my exact detector. It's awesome; simple to use and very accurate. The places I did last summer yielded about $15 each in clad coinage with this one. Pair it up with a decent pinpointer and you're good to go. I have Bounty Hunter's pinpointer but honestly not too thrilled with the quality. It works well just doesn't stand up to use for too long, I'm already having problems getting the tone to stay at the same volume level (probably something loose internally).

But yea, this detector is awesome.

Sweet... welcome to the pull tab/aluminum can finders club...LOL! Hopefully you can find some good stuff up where you are. My lates interesting find is an old 16 gauge shot shell head stamp from the early 30s. I also think this is my oldest find as well.

I have an inexpensive detector (Discovery) because my prime directive is to find meteorites in the desert (I live in California). The device beeps differently for different metals. Ironically, most people want to hear that high pitch beep (gold), but I am always hoping for that low pitch (iron). It works well to about 6 inches deep (and sometimes deeper).

I have increased the scope of where I am searching (just for fun). I go to the beach (Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, etc.) on Sunday evenings after the crowds are leaving. You find the darnedest things.

A couple of years ago, I heard that one of the current California Missions was moved many years ago. I found out where it used to be located and went beeping. Among many neat objects, I found an 1851 large cent. It is corroded and pitted (somewhat), but I found it where it was lost (a ton of years ago).

Nice! You should be able to find some good stuff with that! I went through our yard after I got mine, and have found everything from an XF details 1881 Indian head cent, to old rusty pieces of farm plows, combines, thrashers, heck - even a very old staple gun! Ya just never know....
