I can't help but offer some expertise here:
1. Varieties, once out in circulation for a few years, tend to move a lot. Tracking anything but the newest releases is unlikely to provide any data that is useful in any way.
2. I cherrypicked many of my varieties at shows from dealers who were often more than 300 miles from where they acquired the coins I found. Although it might be less than ten minutes from my house, that doesn't mean the coins I found were from anywhere near me.
3. Many people buy their coins over the internet and find varieties in those - again, useless results.
4. Fewer and fewer people are actually finding anything worthwhile in rolled coins from their local bank. If you do shrink results to finds from local banks, you will prove only what is already known - many varieties are tightly regional when first released, because many of them were minted on one day and those coins are shipped to a single facility for wrapping.
Have fun with your project.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"
