    Gas bubble sells on eBay

I found a large gas bubble on Lincoln's forehead last week and tossed it back. Then I thought it looked cool, and decided to see what it did on eBay. I gave it the name "unicorn" simply to give it a name (you know the old saying, "if you can name it, you can sell it"). I started it at $0.99 and it did better than what I thought. Anyway, I thought this was a great example of "what a coin is worth" in light of recent discussion.

Here are a few things I thought this coin had going for it:

-the gas bubble is a very prominent feature
    -it's not just PMD
    -it's in BU condition
    -it's one of a kind

      Lol, that's PHENOMENAL Sean!!

More power to you. Nothing wrong with explaining what something is and accepting money from people lined up to pay...

I was similarly amazed with a couple of our own auctions this Sunday. Got a couple of really big surprises at the last second.

Wow, that is awesome! It is actually a pretty unique example, and obviously others thought the same thing. Bill

That's a big gas bubble. Guess two people really wanted it.

Yup, that's all it took. In the end, there were 13 bidders and 30 bids!

That's crazy, Sean! It sure is an interesting coin. I'm sure the winner will be very happy with it.

Good for you Sean. It was the perfect name and description for a perfect sale. I've had a couple surprises like that myself. Anything is sellable if you just know how to give it the right name. You nailed this one.

I am not even set up to sell on ebay, although I've been thinking about it. I know it's just a gas bubble, but it is one of my favorite finds. Apparently, there are other people out there that think they are cool too.

I think that is great Sean. I have always thought there was a great market for novelty type coins like this. I have sold some dandy die chips and some extreme machine doubling in the past, but never though about gas bubbles. This post is inspiring.
