And yes- the star rating system is designed to communicate your feelings about the transaction without putting you on the spot. It's not unusual that I leave less than 5 star ratings while still a positive feedback score.

I was perfectly happy back when things took a couple of weeks to show up and it was considered normal. I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks to see what I order. I think expecting next-day service is a bit too anal and it has become the norm. People bend over backwards to make sure things are right, now people expect them to rush because they are impatient? bah.

Late to the party, but here my take.

I don't normally care how long a package takes to get to me as long as their is constant communication, the fact that the buyer ignored a message from you the buyer, would automatically get them a neutral in my book. Buyers shouldnt be afraid to leave open and honest feedback, its the only way to help inform future potential buyers. And since sellers can no longer leave you a negative you have no fear of retribution.

Maybe I have a little less patience since I was screwed a couple times by sellers before ebay became a buyers safe haven. If I dont have a packaged in the specified time, and I receive no answer to a message from the seller, case is opened right away.

Of course it could be I am just a jacka**.

Lots of great EBay and Post Office information here folks. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to explain the process, and their own stories about the subject at hand.

I deal primarily with peoples attribution packages. Until they are safely in my grubby little paws, I worry about them. I also can't wait for the return packages to get home safe and sound. Over 10 years of doing this stuff and little or no complaints beyond a temporarily lost package.

Thanks again for all the info.

So I guess my full roll of 1960-D RPMs and 2006 DDOs got "lost in the mail" on the way to you?

Yah I thought it was rather useful as well, In the past I have visited ebay like one day and bought one item, only never to visit ebay again for awhile, and not worrying about leaving or getting feed back, just to busy and never really thought about it. Right now I don't leave feedback right away in case I get bad fb and then maybe I can at least explain back in fb, I don't know if that is possible, plus if they take the time to leave fb, I will too, and my goal is that they are please and leave it, but hopefully there is no reason ever for bad fb...

I am sure they made it here Simon. Just waiting for the right time to get to them. Maybe the 32nd of the month?

All I gotta say is this - if you honestly expect to see a package in the mail two to three days after your order stuff as the 'norm' - PLEASE do not order anything from me. It usually takes that long for me to make it to the post office. I cannot afford to take a day of vacation from work and rush to the post office to cater to someone else's unreasonable impatience for what amounts to a half hour's pay in profit (at most).

Yeah, you made that clear earlier in the thread. Don't know why you felt you needed to reiterate it. Secondly, shipping something does NOT require a trip to the post office unless you are still living in the dark ages. This thread has yielded exactly the advice I was hoping for and need not continue in my view. I hope a moderator will lock for me. Thank you everyone.

It would be very interesting to find out how anyone accomplishes sending packages without going to a post office if you work during all daylight hours away from home six days a week. Honestly, I'd like to know how I'm stuck in the dark ages. It's the only option I know of to safely ensure packages make it in the mail. I can print postage at home, and have the programs and labels to do so. Where I seem to be missing my trip out of the "dark ages" is the exchange of packages to the postal system.

Leave boxes, especially heavy boxes, in a mail chute - even at the post office - and they will be returned because of Homeland Security rules. Leave them on your porch and they get stolen. Not allowed to take them to work with me. So tell me...how can I do this if I work every single hour any post office is open? It's a seven year mystery I have yet to solve.
