USPS have started offering free tracking

I went to my local Post Office on Friday and they normally they charge me 2.97$ for postage with tracking for first class. Today they only charged me 2.07$,which is regular shipping charge without tracking. I told the teller I wanted tracking as well , she informed me that they will no longer change the extra .90cents for tracking . I think this is good for sellers as a whole . What do you think about this move by the USPS??

Hmmm...I would think that the USPS would be trying to earn every cent they can...

      They made some changes.

Free tracking and free $50 of insurance on priority mail.

I think first class is only free tracking if you use ebay shipping but it's been that way for a while.
Unless they changed something else for first class.

Yeah...and it's a shame because they actually do well...the government has been dipping into the USPS funds...just like everything thing else they can get their hands on

I swear the USPS loses most of it's money on people using their free flat-rate boxes and envelopes as packing materials.

USPS actually turns a profit every quarter. They are losing $ because Congress has made them fund 100% of their next 75 yrs of pensions in the next 5 years and not on a yearly basis as any other business is required by law to do. Go figure. No company makes enough of a profit yearly to do that.
