    New Star Note

    Hey all!
I know I haven't posted in a while but have been working a lot of 12 hr shifts and haven't had a lot of time to search. So when I got this new $100 bill today and it was a star note, It's not a coin but I figured I'd post it.

Both my photo-editing software wouldn't let me do anything to these pictures in the program so these will just have to be straight from the camera.

I haven't seen any of the new notes yet. Then again, no one gives me hundred dollar bills either Do you plan on keeping it? I normally collect star notes but a hundred bucks is difficult to keep just because it has a star on it....for me anyway.

Hah not sure yet. Put it inside a book just in case but if I need it I wont hesitate to spend it. Mainly since its been creased at least once and the serial number isnt low or anything special. I too find it hard to throw $100 bill to the side to save just because it has a star on it. Lol I havent come across one in a while so it was a nice surprise when I looked through my cash.

Our coin club here had a Secret Service Agent come in to talk about currency and coins. His thrust was counterfeiting and how they find it. We also got a look at the new 100 in hand and a brochure showing all the security built in. He also said any $100 bill brought into a bank (deposits, exchanges etc) was to be immediately set aside and be replaced with a new. The idea is to get the old ones off the street a quickly as possible....

Yep they are pretty cool! First one I got I popped under the microscope. It actually looked pretty messy but I guess it was the best way to accomplish the security measures they had set in mind.

That's awesome... I haven't had a hundred dollar bill in my hands in YEARS and usually when I do get that rare chance its only there long enough for me to take it to someone else...lol!

                What is cash?

Is that that stuff they used before debit and credit cards?

I have had the same dilemma, any time I found a $20-50-100 that was a star or an older circ "bearer on demand" note. I always felt like it was neat but the face value made it difficult to keep so I offered them to friends that wanted them for face value. I might have saved them if they were $1 bills.

This is one of the cool things about collecting cents as opposed to $100 bills, we can afford to hoard them
