    Two capped bust halves

I will start with a 1825 capped bust half dollar O-101. These were my grandfathers and have been in the family now for a while.

Had to teach myself the diagnostics for identifying these .50¢ coin die marriages. The terminology I encountered was often odd (such as seeing someone call die pitting "die mounds") and the photos often were often missing key die markers for earlier or later stages. The key diagnostic was the right scroll edge lining up with the middle of the M in AMERICA (Reverse A - and was only paired with Obverse 1)
    Anyway the coin...

    1809 o-107

The next capped bust half dollar is a circulated 1809. This one has some kind of wacky experimental edge lettering that was hard to photograph. It is known as the IIII edge as it has these little incuse marks that look like nicks in front of HALF and also after DOLLAR. This turned out to be O-107.

Beautiful coins, Jason. I have a soft spot for Bust Halves...unfortunately in an effort to get back to my copper roots I sold off 4 of the 5 pieces I had. Here's my only piece now, an 1835 that I have so I can put together a little "date set" of 1835 coins.

Thanks. Fun to shoot. Color correcting was, and always has been, a trial with silver and clad coins.
Impractical to try and branch out and collect them - it would be fun though. Not budget friendly and they aren't going to turn up in bank rolls LOL.

Beautiful! I'm with the gang here; I traded my bust halves to Chris for just a few cents, lol.

Nice coins, but too pricey for me.

That really is a gorgeous coin, you so rarely see them in mint state.
