Hello all,
I picked this coin up recently after noticing that it was a re-punched date. After researching it for a while, it sounds like RPD's for 1868 2 cent pieces are pretty scarce. I wonder if this was because the dies failed early? This coin is literally covered with die cracks including a nice retained cud on the reverse. It is in pretty terminal die state in my opinion which makes me even more glad I bought it. I paid $60 for it. Does anyone have a copy of Kevin Flynn's book The Authoritative Reference on Two Cent Coins to help me match a die number? Thanks for any help on this!
