    Nickels

First let me say I'm new here...and a bit of a nickel nut / expert.
I have two complete MS Jefferson nickels collections with just about every variety known.
A proof collection of Jefferson nickels with the 1971 S no S in DC proof 67. This coin there were only 1655 (estimated) minted.
I will be glad to post my nickels as long as I don't bore anyone in a Lincoln cent forum.
That said... most collectors don't know that the WW ll nickels all have some sort of variety.
During WW ll nothing was wasted. Dies were used till they exploded.
    Then recycled ...
That said you will find in the 1942 type ll nickel thru 1945 wartime silver nickels lots of double dies, omm, over dates, etc.As time allows I will post some of my nickels both MS & PF state.
Another fact most collectors are unaware of is nickels have been some of the highest priced coins in the numistic market place.
Tonight I'll share one image of a find of mine searching bags. The image will explaine all as when you see it you'll be shocked ....the odds in this strike are unreal.
Its an error Jefferson from 1999 Denver mint. Notice that only 99 D can be seen on the plachet as well as the FS Fleix Schlag under Jefferson...what do you think the odds are for a strike like this?

        Hi Paddy,

I moved your posts because it is probably best to start your own thread if the topic is different rather than post on someone else's. No harm done. Very nice nickel errors/varieties.

Those are some awesome Nickels Paddy! The 1943-P DDO#1 Doubled eye, the 1943/2 and the three legger, I recognize right off. Thanks for posting those! I fear that if they eliminate the cent, I might have to switch gears and spend a lot more time working with nickels. Alas, the nickel will probably go along with the cent so I guess it will be on to dimes.

I believe so as what are the odds of just catching the last two digets on the date plus the mm and the FS when all else is so off struck. Thanks for the comps. On the coins.

                      The 99-D is a miracle.
To get a date and mintmark was lucky!

And the 71 no S proof is a super coin, was it a cherry pick?

The 99 D was found in a bag and yes I agree....
The 71 ..I purchased 2 proof sets both had the nickel in them. I then chose this one to grade.
A few years ago I sold the other set, as just wanted to free up some cash needed.
Couldn't justify having two of them in my collection
