It should work just fine for photographing and viewing varieties. You may not be able to take full coin shots with it though.

Those scopes are very good. I am not sure about that specific camera and I don't think you need so many magnification options, but neither can hurt and the price is reasonable. Check ebay and other sites until you find the best deal.

And if you get a scope, remember that lighting and cameras along with practice, patience, experimentation and a lot time go into taking decent photos. It also opens doors on examining coins. You will be able to answer questions you had in the past, but they will be replaced by whole new ones now that you can see so much more - literally.

Cranky, you can also look at AmScope's website and buy directly from them instead of Amazon. AmScope has a lot on sale right now. Here is a link to one that I am checking out

Here is a link that shows what you can expect to see with various magnifications. http://www.microscopeworld.com/magnification.aspx

Many people seem to think more is better, but the 10X setting with a wide field of view will be great for searching...I've really never had a need for more than 30X

I have a much better one listed on the trading post section. I never go past 30-40x. No use for it. Plus the cameras that come with these aren't very good at all.

Maineman... I just don't see the scratch under Lincoln's nose... you'd think they would have shot better photos. But, a good example of magnification levels, thank you

This link is so you can see the "field of view".....which means how much of the cent you will see, it doesn't illustrate clarity or definition.

At 10x on my scope you can see the entire cent, and dimes of course, but anything bigger than a cent wont fit in view all at once. That's why I like the super wide field view. At 30x you can get really good close ups to determine whats really there
