    Reformatting my Computer.

I am gonna see on this curb side computer if i can reformat this and see if I can get DeskMate 3 working. Its been a LONG time since Ive played with this OS but I remember from my childhood and should be quite useful when installed on my 4 Gig HD.

Deskmate was circa 1989 and was made by Radio Shack under the name Tandy and came with an optional 10mb or 20mb HD. ( Thats why i think 4 gig will hold everything I can think of and then some. ) Also Deskmate had a version of AOL 2.0 but Im looking for deskmate for only its data entry storage and info storage software.

Anyone else figure out an easy way to install old style software into modern computers?

Are you doing this just to get the info on the old computer? Or you want to continue to run deskmate and the programs its offers? Kind of hard to find it these days. Good luck with it.

Now that is some old stuff... You may not be able to run that old software on the newer computers... You may be able to use UNIX and create a shell for the older OS system to operate!!!

I figured out the path for the boot but even though I am only using 93k bites it still comes up with the win 98 screen. What gives?

Could be the win.ini file... A couple of other boot files could also be causing that... IO.SYS and I can not remember the name of the other one off hand... You can change the file names in order to prevent them from starting then work around from there!!!

Just spoke to a friend and he said you might have a rough time getting both to work correctly because of the age. Hope you figure it out.

Yeah, Im trying to disable the whole boot cycle ( used for win 98 ). I thought reformatting the HD would clear it out. BUT seems it doesnt. I need to think now how to get rid of what is left so that I can use the deskmate
