    Interesting penny error

Can't seem to identify this error. It is metal and not gum, glue, etc. Realllly wanted it but the seller wanted a ridiculous price for it. Catastrophic die damage maybe?

What does the reverse look like?
Richard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Newer members like these.

It looks like metal added after the strike.

            Definitely not die failure...
            in a coin...the amount of metal is a constant..+ or - a little bit....
IF that much metal was displaced to be on top of the coins standard field and devices... the reverse would not have enough metal flow to fill in the devices
This is post strike damage of some type... Solder, metal added after the fact.. something... anything other than die failure / mint error.

Solder would be fine by me; that can be removed without too much problem depending on the type.
