I found a second possible 1955 Canadian nsf Cent today. Are the folds worn off on this one or is this the real thing? This one has the points on the I. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-...cent-1953-1964
Onecent1909, What do you think? You directed me to this site before. Thanks, Joel
I really don't believe this.....
YES... THAT is a 1955 no shoulder fold... the "I" points in between the 2 denticles...
WOW... that's it... WAY TO GO...
Good find
Thank you Onecent!! I thought it was an nsf also after you gave me the coinsandcanada site last week. Thanks again for adding the site link. I am still having trouble figuring how to add a link to my thread. That is so unusual to find two 1955 Canadian cents in one week. I really don't save Canadian coins and will probably sell it if I find someone who is interested. Thanks again for your help and education. Joel
Gunnovice09, When I found the first 55 last week I looked up the coin on google and found the nsf variety that has considerable value. Onecent advised me that my first find didn't have the "I" points. When I found the second one I looked for the I points and found them. Again, Onecent confirmed my find. By the way this is the first Canadian coin I googled because it was the oldest I have ever found. Joel
for 1953,1954, and 1955 there are 2 obverse designs for Canadian coins
ones with a "shoulder fold" on the queens out fit
and one with "no shoulder fold"
the 53 SF has a little extra value
the 54 SF was only issued in Proof Like sets and caries a big value
the 55 NSF which is what this post is about .. has a nice value...
I found my 53 SF and my 55 NSF looking through coins in 2 different Saint Augustine shops.. by the register.. foreign coins 3 for a dollar... also got a unstuck dime and a copper disk... that has a very small amount of hair detail that yields it to be a draped bust large cent..but not even a poor that you can ID... anyways... they are out there.... you just have to look for them
edit... dont look for the "POINTS" on the I of the coin...
the marks around the rim that look like lines or tabs... those are called denticles....
on the SF coin the I is centered right bellow one of them... the I points at one of them
on the NSF coin the I is centered in between 2 of them.. the I points in between them
the "POINTS" on the I may be worn off or damaged... look at where the I is centered or points to.
Well, that's interesting! Thanks for posting this. Never knew about this variety or how much of a premium a 1955 Canadian cent can carry. Looks like you found a couple hundred dollars there. Time to look through my bag of Canadians, ehhh?
