The Canadian penny has been discontinued and pulled from circulation. I understand that you never see them in the Great White North and none of them are given out in change because the nickel is now the smallest denomination in circulation. I assume that customers still spend them when they have them, but they aren't given out in change. However, I find Canadian pennies in rolls and in the till at work quite often. I live way down south in Oklahoma, and I imagine in places like Minnesota and Maine that Canadian pennies are far more common than they are down here. I would think that there are more Canadian one cent coins in circulation in the US than in Canada here in 2014. I wonder what year the Canadian penny became more common in America than in Canada? I save each and every Canadian (and coins from any other country besides the USA) penny that I find. I've even found multiple Canadian pennies old enough to have King George VI on them.
