1944P Silver 5c Jefferson Nickel DDO?

I don't look at to many nickels, but this looks like its a DDO. Look at the RTY of Liberty the Date and Trust. There also looks like a dot above and below the right leg of IN. Not sure if that's anything. Need an expert opinion on it to be sure. Thx for the help Paul

I'm not sure. I see what you're talking about, but that could simply be from a worn die.

Some of it may be related to a worn die such as the 44 but with the notching on some of the letters I would say a DDO!!!

The notching is why I was thinking DDO also. Any idea if there is a listing for this? Thx

I can not remember explicitly , but I recall many years ago that there was determined to be Master Die Doubling on the obverse of many nickels from the 40s. Let me see if I can track it down, but that might be what you have there.

                Paul,
You have MDO-001: MD-1-O-V-CW per Coneca's web site. It matches the description perfectly.

I don't know what Ken Potter was referring to as a 5c DDO on his site Bella, but Kevin has identifies what I was trying to recall from many yeas ago. Master die doubling was prevalent on 1944 Nickels, and yours may be one of them. Since I am not an expert on the nickels, I would refer that attribution to one of the other attributors.
