    1946 P Nickel

I recall reading articles of counterfeit 1946 5 cent silvers and I also know or rather heard there were also genuine silver struck for the year.
I purchased a small collection and checking the nickels and this stood out. I know specific gravity test will tell. Forgot how and don't have the tools for it.
Weight is 4.99 grams of course they all are in the general area. How can I test this at reasonable price. Besides the ring test and It did sound silver to me.
Here are a couple of photo's of the thing. Thanks.

I believe theses were called Henning nickels, and were supposedly made in quite a few years. Here is a site that will give you some specifics about his antics

Portal berita serba ada: berita harian, informasi judi online, teknologi, gaya hidup, dan hiburan dalam satu tempat terpercaya.

However, in some cases, the counterfeit nickel was lighter in weight (4.3 grams). Your coin seems to be close to the original nickel weight of 5 grams. Other counterfeits were 5.4 grams in some of the later years.

Eeverything I have read yielded no silver 1946 Hennings
his was a 1944 that the reverse did not have the Mint Mark over the dome ( I have examined 2 of these nickles )
most but not all Hennings have the loop in the bottom upright of the R.
I have seen this on a 1947 and on 2 1953.. but also saw a 1953 that did not have the loop
There is a pamphlet made by D.H. Stuckey called "The Counterfeit 1944 Jefferson Nickel" published in 1982... extremely hard to locate ....but a very good reference on the Henning nickels

What makes you think this is silver?

Understanding Henning Nickels little better thanks. Still have a question on a alternate cheap way of checking if it is in fact silver. Weights and lettering don't match anything close to the fakes.
          Thanks
