PayPal Debit Card, if it’s not a scam I don’t what is.

I thought I’d share this with you just in you get or give a PayPal Debit Card.
My Daughter ask me what I wanted for my birthday “Last September” and I told her a PayPal Gift Card. Well she found a card at the store that has PayPal on it. But it wasn’t a Gift Card but a PayPal Debit MasterCard. Her $25 dollar Gift cost her $29.95, $4.95 service charge???
My Daughter lives out of town and for whatever the reason I didn’t get the Card until the 1st week in February. I attempted to use it a few days later on PayPal and couldn’t get it to work. So I called PayPal and was told I had to go to their WEB site (www.PayPal.com/Prepaid) and activate the card. To activate the card you have to give them your Social Security # and other Personal information. I didn’t want to let the $25 go to waste so I did, ya I know that was an “ID-TEN-T” error. AKA I’m an “Idiot”. After I activated it to I find out they send you a “Permanent” new card which I’d get in ~ 10 days. So I get the card and set it up in PayPal and try to make a $25 payment to BJ for his WEB site. The transactions would not work, have to use my regular set up for BJ. So I call PayPal to find out what’s going on. I am told the balance on the card wasn’t $25 but a negative $4.95. I ask how that can be I just activated the card. Well it seems there is a $4.95 a month service charge on the Debit Card?????? I now owe them $4.95 because the card was purchased in September of 2014 and the monthly service charge started then. LOL, the math don’t add up, 5 months at $4.95 is $24.75. I should have still 25 cents on the card!!
Needless to say I canceled the card before the balance due on the card more than I paid for my house. No way am I going to pay them $4.95 for a $25 gift my Daughter had already paid $29.95 for and now is worth ZERO!! So now I wonder if they will turn me over to a collection agency to get the $4.95. Do they have internet in jail??

That is ridiculous! The other missing $4.95 might be an activation fee, read the details because it might have charged you that for when you called to activate it.

Their other deal is when they offer "bill me later". I think if you do it you end up applying for a credit card that charges 19.99% interest after the free period ends. Like any credit card, free if you pay it off each month but not exactly what it might seem like when you read "bill me later" LOL

I've had issues with other "pre-paid" debit, gift cards. I will never buy another the rest of my life. Now I just give cash, it has no fees and never expires. LOL
