I've had that brought up before Jody, but I'm curious. When I mention having a drink, nobody brings up the fact that 6 people die every day from alcohol poisoning....is it because the neti pot is unconventional....or just sounds gross ?

I'm quite lucky working in a chemistry lab. I have access to ultra-pure, UV treated water and reagent grade sodium chloride. My Neti solution is very clean and prepared at the exact, needed NaCl concentration. I even tested the shelf life (I usually prepare 1 gallon at a time) of a test solution at 15 months - it had no detectable bacteria nor mold by our micro department.

Like anything in life, there will be dumb people. I've been using it twice a day for about 10 years and I've gotten sick may 3-4 times over that period. When I did get sick, I increased my usage to 4-5 times per day and the symptoms were mild and short-lived. I also add "Cold-ese" into the mix at first sign of something, I'm sure that helps too.

To the people that tell me it's "gross". I tell them it's even more gross not ever cleaning this important area of the body, kind of like never washing your arm pits. LOL

LOL, I've always said if you want to get the flu get the shot!! In my younger days that's just what happen. After I retired I never had another and never got the flu. Then this year when I was in the hospital I was told "You really should get a flu shot!!" So I did, didn't get the flu but the pneumonia I picked up in the hospital dang near killed me.

Must be me and "shots"!! My wife got shingles real bad and our doctor suggest I get a shingles shot. The shot worked, I got shingles on both feet!

From now on the only shot I want is a shot of eggnog!!

My wife and I both got the worst flu virus ever, it almost killed both of us (we were only in our early 40's). We were sick for almost 2 months! After that we've both gotten a flu shot every year.....and I've never had the flu since. I'm a firm believer in flu shots.

There is such a mess of flus and infections running around. I have found that I get less sick if I DO get the flu-shots -- so I try to get it each year. This year I got a little flu-like stuff but 3 days - Gone. There is currently a Upper respiratory infection -- got all my Grand kids in the last 2 months -- hangs on like visiting in-laws and when it is done -- stomach-flu like symptoms for about a week... Bad stuff. I got it bu my version was rather mild -- couple of days upper esp-- 4 days of an iffy stomach..

I personally don't know what to make of the flu this year. It could be the fact that its my 4 year olds first year of school (preschool) and bringing the stuff home. But when I was in school it was never like this. I personally think its the GMOs in food that is making us more and more sick. Its to expensive to keep up with healthy GMO free food. Unfortunately I don't have much of a yard for a garden unless I cut down some trees. Even if I cut down the trees the yard is by the road so would have to build a fence. Im happy with the house I bought but some things are needed that aren't available in this house. Im working on buying land and moving but that wont happen overnight.

The worse flu I got was in the 70's... Being in the military I had to get a Swine flu shot... Sure enough I got it
