Hi JoAnn,

American Silver Eagles are probably my favorite silver coins also.
This one is 'toned', either naturally, or most likely artificially. Toning can be accomplished by heating a coin in some manner, or exposing it to a chemical of some sort.
Many of us enjoy seeing the variety of toned coins. I bet every one of us has a favorite example, whether we admit it or not.
Regardless of how it was done, it is certainly a colorful example.
