    FUN update: 2016

    Hello all.
Just an update as to all the things I have seen so far at FUN this year
I went down Wednesday to set up two exhibits for me and one exhibit for the Ocala coin club
on Thursday I took my grandmothers boyfriend to the show
We went by the CONECA club both but I did not see BJ or Mr. Lighterman
I realized to late that I made two mistakes on my exhibit setup: so I may not get an award this year...
    we will see
I bought the phonescope: the adapter you snap onto your cell phone to give you closeup images
I will take so pics of it and with it and post them later
    on Friday..
saw BJ for a few minuets at the CONECA table...
Found a dealer that had a lot of ANACS 1971 S ddo,1972 DDO die 2,3,5,7,8

and I mean a lot... a hole display case full 3 deep.. I got pics and will post them soon
anyone that knows me would know I like wrong dies, you know... proof dies used on circulation strike coins
    found a few type B quarters, a 1959 DDR type 1 over type 2 half, a few 1970 P rev of 1968 dimes

But I ran into a gentleman that I do not know what to think.
he told me that the quarters he was looking for was 1957 to 1964 type B quarters.
I told him they were made from 1956 to 1964
we talked I told him about the 1988 rev of 1989 cent ( after I had checked for them first)
then mentioned my exhibit and said I had a 1992 D CLAM..
he said in the past 6 years he had found 10 to 15 1992 P CLAMs

If he really found 1992 P CLAMs... he would put a dent in know coins
    PCGS and NGC combine 1992 P CLAM,,,,13

I asked if he wanted to sell one.. he said no, so I let it go.
Now I have doubts.. but I just don't know... maybe?
    i mean I do have the 1992 D CLAM
And we have a few other members that have pulled 1992 D CLAMs
and at one time I had a copy of Amazing Fantasy 15... no cover.. but a true original copy
most people would not believe me... but I did

saw a few 1944 D/S Over Mint Mark (OMM) at one table.... and they had a 1938 D/S nickel OMM
maybe they read Jason's thread on OMM

OK tomorrow FUN CLUB get together for clubs belonging to FUN and awards to be given out.
    Update in a few days.

Saw BJ there but could not find you John. Did you see Rick Snow at his booth and the incredible Indians and more incredible prices? I did pick up some Memorial OBWs but they were pricey. There was one dealer who has his shop in Brandon and said he had a bunch of BU and OBWs but he did not bring them to the show. Since Brandon is on my way home to Miami, I took a short detour and visited his shop. Dropped $80 on rolls and some loose wheats and am anxious to get at some of them today. All in all the show was an experience (again) especially since this time I was part of a team at my local shop's dealer table and could go in early, before the general public, though that did not do me much good in finding stuff. I did see the tray of 72's that table was just one row behind ours.

Wow. I need to make it to FUN on one year. Good luck with your exhibit John. And I hope you find something good in your rolls Roller.

10-15 1992 close AMs in 6 years? Maybe if he was in the epicenter of where they were distributed, the ground zero of CLAMs! And seriously, would anyone lose track of how many $10,000 varieties they found??
"Here's a 2006 doubled die obverse, notch on the Y...cool extra finger on this corroded 2009, and what do I see here? Another '92 CLAM? Guess I'll just toss this with the OTHERS until I feel like being mortgage free..."

Spoke to BJ by phone today and got a small update on what the show was like. He was about to give his talk with Fred on varieties and am eager to hear how it was attended and what they spoke about. Glad you are having a good time John and looking forward to your pictures. Did you make that luncheon? And did you get the name or number of the gentleman who had all of those 92s? I'm with Dennis on this and will keep an opinion to myself of what he might actually have lol.

FUN is definitely a great experience if you can make it one day.

                  OK update two
A friend of mine, Richard Bousquet gave a talk on his expertise "Jefferson Nickels"
                  got to see that.
did not get a name or number for the 92 guy.
made the lunch for clubs that are members of FUN at 12:00
BJ talk was also at 12:00 so I did not get to see it
                  Won a 2007 eagle.
my wife said "That's a good sign"
                  I said yea... of what?
                  got to the awards banquet...
3rd place out of 4 in Errors.
                  thought that would be it....
                  then.. surprise..
3rd place in miscellaneous out of 6.
and first place was my friend Richard Bousquet.
His first win exhibiting out of 4 tries.
I had an elongated cent in one of my exhibits.
Then was told that the elongated cent club would be giving out
an award to anyone who had an elongated cent in their exhibit.
so I will be getting that also.
Did not do a lot of searching for coins.
                  NOT IMPRESSED with the dealers.
they were told IF they left after 3:00 PM there would be no penalties.
so they were packing up at 1:30/2:00 and left at 3:00
Entire rows... gone at 3:00 on Saturday.. show goes till Sunday,
saw one kid that showed up at 1:00 his parents were disappointed.
I want to address this with the bourse chair tomorrow

                  wowzers what a day...
a FUN and surprising day with my Wife by my side.

Has anyone heard what happened with the 1943 off metal cents that were up for auction?

Did not know that a 1943 wrong metal was up for sale.
I know 1944 P on Zinc coated steel and 1944 S on Zinc coated steel did not sell.
the 1944 P PCGS MS 64 on Zinc coated steel is being offered post auction at $146,875.00
the 1944 S PCGS MS 66 on Zinc coated steel is being offered post auction at $323,125.00

Thanks for the info. Heritage Auctions also had (2) 1942 white metal cents and a 1943 bronze cent advertised in Coin World.

Thanks John for your informed and interesting account of a show I can only dream of attending. Someday I will make it down there, but for now, accounts like yours are the best I can do! I appreciate your insights very much.
