Restoration of Indian Heads in an album

I recently took on the task of appraising several common date Indian Heads in an album for a friend. Most are in AG to Fine condition with a few VF to AU sliders. These coins have not been touched since the early 1960s. The album has literally "grown" into some of these coins.

My question is whether or not to restore these coins or to keep them in the album as is and sell it as a set? Although these are obviously circulated, I'm curious as to whether or not leaving them in the old "untouched" condition will yield a higher price at auction. I'm thinking some people might be leary of "clean" coins in a beat up album.

My friend is in the unenviable position of having circulated , older coins that are still common in the marketplace. I want to help him get the most for his coins but I'm not sure the restoration will be worth it?

    Thanks

I would not do anything more than acetone and verdicare to them... They may bring a little more with excess gunk removed??? Just my opinion tho!!!

First thing that comes to mind is what kind of album? If it's in the blue Whitmans I would say get them out!

I would tend to agree with Jim. If the coins have PVC damage, and it is not too severe, a simple rinse with acetone can help and not do them harm. If you can take a quick photo of them in the album, it might help us determine what (if anything) should be done.

Thanks guys. After I told him what these were worth, he's decided to pass these on to the grandchildren. This was another case where someone was hoping age equaled rarity and value. Lesson learned and all is well.
