1969 D Washington Quarter Type B Proof Reverse.

Found earlier today BWR of Quarters:

Mint State 1969 D Type B Proof Reverse.

*Some collector's say these are Type H*

Whatever, very rare to find in this condition in circ.

        Roger:

You have to stop looking only at PENNIES!

Come over to the DARK SIDE my Friend!

This is a Proof Reverse on a Business Strike Quarter.

From 1956 to 1964 and also 1969 to 1972 (I think I got the dates correct) on Washington Quarters the Mint used PROOF Reverses on some business strike coins.

The same as the MINT using Proof Reverses on the Lincoln Cent WIDE AM's etc.

The pick-up points are the gap between the ES in States, the A of Dollar touching the leaf above it and the leaf on the far left is above the arrow barbs.

On the regular business strike coins the gap is very narrow, the A doesn't touch the leaf and the leaf on the left is lower than the arrow barbs.

        Hope this helps.

Go buy some rolls of quarters now!

I believe this is one of the rare ones, Chuck. There is a guy over on the PCGS forums that specializes in these proof reverse quarters, and I think I remember him saying the clads were extremely hard to come by.
                Congrats

                  Thanks!

                  Yes, it is rare.
(Confirmation made by DR. Wiles ( CONECA) Type H Reverse.

Coin has been sent in to ANACS for grading/attribution.

(ANACS is the only TPG out of the big 3 that will list it as a RDV-008.)

I'll post pics when it is returned.

Yea that are hard to find. I think part of the reason is that they are early clads.
Most of the nice clads come out of mint sets and I have never heard of type Hs in mint sets.
The 1959 and 1960 mint sets can have type Bs in them
                    .
                    I have a 1969 D type H but it is circulated.
                    and I still do not have the 1970 D,1971 D,or 1972 D type Hs
I have put 2 type Bs sets in MS 64+
the clad type Hs are much harder to assemble and only 4 years vs 9 type Bs

1968 Proofs rdvs are rather scarce , and not many people even know about these =)

I go through about $300 in quarters a month, and I've never found one of these. Nice find!

                          Thanks again to all!

The coin is presently in transit to ANACS for grading/attribution.

                          * Only ANACS, out of the big 3 TPG , will attribute and label the RDV-008.*

OK, no coin yet but the coin is being shipped.

                              The grade is

                              ANACS:

                              1969D- RDV-008 Mint State 64.

                              Post pics upon receipt
