Since this is not a Lincoln I moved the thread to Off Topic Discussions... To me it looks like a DDO and DDR but like you I do not know enough about Canadian coinage... On the reverse, I'm thinking it might be MD to the SW and it creates an illusion that it goes 2 directions but in reality the reason it shows top and bottom of the leaf is that both areas are west. If that makes sense LOL.
On the obv maybe MD to the NE.
