1974P Nickel that is copper color

    Another possible reason is it may have been tumbled in a rock tumbler with copper cents. That can sometimes give them a copper coating.

      Thank you all! Well if these nickels can tone in the original mint cello wrapper, I would guess that color of toning is close to what this one looks like. Here's the ebay link https://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-P-Jeff...gAAOSwZd1Ve3j5

          Viv, LOL! we said a tiny spot on the rim! if it was copper I'd have felt bad if you tomahawk chopped the obv like that

          Now you're ahead, you can spend it and not waste a flip on it.
