Jon and I were discussing in his earlier thread, we are paying with cash more often instead of our convenient debit cards! Yesterday in change I got this in place of a cent, it's the size of a nickel.
Don't see many foreign coins so I had to research this one...
Germany has four mints, this one was minted in Karlsruhe as signified by the G mint mark. It's brass plated steel and sticks to a magnet. When you flip this one over the other side is upside down.
Acetone did not get all the gunk off, but I guess you can't expect too much from a circulated brass and steel 1972
