Im not sure what happened to this nickel, any ideas?

It was probably a metal detector find on a beach, it looked like a small cookie. After they get a jar full of junk coins like that they run then through a rock tumbler or whatever to make them spendable. That's my guess.
It's not really worth wondering about every trashed coin, all sorts of things happen to them. But it's fun. LOL

I'm with Ed about the cause.
If it is underweight it might have something to do with a caustic substance (even water is slightly acidic) eating away at it.Comment
