I know it's the cent forum, but I found a Sacagawea WOUNDED EAGLE coin

When I bought my first 5000 pennies in Dec 2018, I also bought 200$ in 1 dollar coins. I went through a few, but then I left them, since I really wanted to look through my pennies.
So now, since those dollars are out of my account, and have bills to pay, decided it's time to look through them, so I can put them back. Or whichever I won't keep.
Well, lo and behold, I think I found a Wounded Eagle Sacagawea. Am pretty sure. Except, I wouldn't know it's valuation, where I need to send it for that. Yah I can search the internet, but it's probably better to get advice from someone who has done this before. Thank you in advance.

Very cool!! I've been looking for one for quite some time and have yet to find one. I always look at sold items on ebay to get a good idea of what current worth is. That's so cool, beginner or not. For me it's just the searching and hoping on a find, I just enjoy looking! Ebay, just like anything else, has it's good and bad folks. Not everything you see on there is legit. It is a good rule of thumb though, in my opinion, looking at the sold items for current worth. It's the closest thing to the stock market for anyone to use and have access to. Pure capitalism!

eBay is definitely a reliable source for pricing, but you still need to know what you're looking at......watch sold auctions, not asking prices, and be aware there are always exceptions.

Is ebay a reliable source for pricing?

If the listing is clear enough to be sure or it's in a real slab then it's a decent price point if you average a few sales.
You can learn from some of the good sellers with good pics.

You still need to filter out the rubbish, things that are not what they were listed as and some that put together great listings but are wrong or making stuff up as they go so you need to filter out the bad info.

Makes sense. Maybe I'll keep it 'till no folks are listing any for sale; might be awhile, hehe.
But at least I can still return some of the 200$ I originally started with, back to the bank, by next week.

Good find. I have little luck with dollar coins. I only own 2 and both 1979 SBA near date. I only found one and won other at my local coin club.

Well, finished most of separating the dollars last night, between Sacagawea dollars by date and mintmark (not a lot of 'D's); not quite finished.
And the Presidential ones, by name. Very strenous going through that edge reading. Found a few interesting ones. Not done with that either.

ANd SBA's, got them all separated. 30 of them. 7 of them with wide rim (2 of these with a interesting golden hue, 1980 and 1981 d/d).
Some really wicked mintmarks on these SBA's. Like one, has a D/D and a funny looking P on top of all as if coming out and on top of the D's (looks like a dolphin's head to me). Then this other strange MM --the way it looks, I would describe it as an O sleeping on a pedestal with a clear black P in the front as if floating; obviously, it's not that.

Not only that, spent all night doing all this, and also reading about dollar coins. Still reading about pennies on Wexler, and Brian's Varieties, and Error-Ref, and LincolnCent forum Reference, and Ken Potter's list, and usacoinbook, and mint error news, and coppercoins, and coinweek, and........my head is spinning! LOL, am becoming Rosemary's baby.

My macro lens should be coming in tomorrow. Hope to finish with the dollars in a few days, since I'll put what I find on Ebay (first time with coins there for me). Will see what happens. But before the 1st, whatever doesn't go, has to go back to the bank. I want to get back to my pennies. Have one box I haven't gone through yet, and it's like they are calling me.

Cool find... This is the forum for off denomination postings... Lots of the folks here also dabble in the other items The best part of having dollar coins is when you turn them in you get 100 cents in return and that equates to 100 times more searching

That's right, JF. 100 more possibilities have better odds.
On the upside (of the dollar), if I sell a dollar for 2 dollars, I may be richer, than if I sell 1 penny for 2 pennies.

Sorry, I missed this post or I would have replied earlier. I found 14 "Wounded Eagles" ("Speared Eagles" PCGS) back in 2016 from 3 of 12 bank-wrapped rolls that originally came from a coin dealer in Virginia (close to Philly). Absolute Blind luck I ran across the rolls thru a friend. I sent 7 to NGC and 7 to PCGS for slabbing. All came back MS64-MS67. I sold 12 on Ebay (kept an MS 67 and an MS 65, which was the first one graded/slabbed by NGC), with the lowest sale price of $175 (MS 64) and the highest $725 (MS 67). It is definitely worth getting it slabbed. I think there are still less than 600 that have been found and certified by NGC/PCGS. Hope this helps.
