Does anybody know anything about The China Doll Dodge City tokens? I found one looking through some of the stuff I got from my grandfather. Was going to post it, but don't know if it would be appropriate I'm curious about how to determine an authentic token. Is there any way to determine the year it was used?
Sure Rowdy you can post it here! I've never heard of it, but let me do some ing
LOL.. didn't take me long to figure out why you were hesitant LOL! Ummm... I think it's still okay, it's an interesting token!
(and... no it's not a Chinese Restaurant )

Let's just keep the subject family friendly
Ok, when I read that it's not a Chinese Restaurant...I laughed so hard my dog started barking and scared my birds half to death. I'll see if my phone will take a decent photo. I know it won't fit under my scope.

yeah it's funny for sure! That's cool you have birds - what do you have? Jim has birds too and I used to have a male Green Cheek Conure that talked up a storm! What kind of dog do you have? Good thing you don't have cats LOL!
I have 2 Cockatiels and a Green Cheek Conure. They dont really talk much, but the Cockatiels can whistle the tune to "Bridge on the River Kwai" and "Jesus Loves Me". My dog is a Dachshund I've had for about 10 years. Here are the images...
Awww Cockatiels are sweet birds and that's really cool that they can whistle songs! I miss Mango my Green Cheek so give yours some extra tickles for me! I didn't know Mango could talk because the previous owner said he just said a few words every once and awhile, but Mango would hop down and come find me when his cage door was open, climb up my pants leg, wind up on my shoulder or top of my head and whenever I had water running (doing dishes or cleaning out fish tanks) Mango would talk like crazy, he learned more and more words and he danced to music! Dachshunds are really good dogs to have too, some of them have attitudes most of them are diggers! I'm sure yours is pretty calmed down now at 10 years old... sweet!
Rowdy all I could come up with on the token, and I don't know if it's correct is they are from the 1960's era and from San Francisco. Maybe the guys know more about it!

Oh, I would have thought much earlier than that. I've not been able to find a date at all or even if The China Doll really existed...but then, my search was limited. Surely someone on here collects tokens and will know a little bit about this one. Thanks for your help...and the laugh!
You got it Bro! Always enjoy a good laugh, 'specially on a Friday! Yeah, I couldn't come up with much in searches so maybe they guys know more about it. I would think earlier than the 60's too!
I wonder if it's really from Dodge City? There are five places called Dodge City in America. Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan and Kansas. I was told before that Dodge City, Kansas is where the saying "Get the he** outta Dodge" came from and I've heard some other interesting stories about Dodge City, Kansas so maybe it's from there.
Added: Rowdy, another thing I noticed while googling images is there are at least two different fonts used on the particular one you have. Also noticed there is one that does have San Francisco in place of Dodge City.
Thank you, Ed. I wasn't asking anyone to do a search for me (though I do very much appreciate Viv's effort)! As I mentioned to Viv , I already did a search, albeit a limited one. I've been cautioned on here about believing everything I read on the internet about coins, and I don't know anything about the Numista forum (who posts there, their credentials, etc) or any other forum for that matter. My hope was that someone on this board who collects tokens might have this one and know something about it. I've been on LCF long enough that I trust the experience and expertise here. Thanks again.

Thanks, Viv. I found this this morning. It kinda answers my question of real or fake.
Cool looking token... There are several folks here that collect tokens just wish I could remember who Jon 9makecents) does some collecting I believe??? Here are a couple of links to hopefully help you out - Trade Tokens is a search on google and Token Catalog is 1 of the results... Hope that helps!!!
