I bought this 1940-D quarter off eBay and was pleasantly surprised to find that it also is a nice variety. Obverse is a minor DDO, listed by CONECA as 8-O-II-C, and the reverse is RPM-003. It appears to be an earlier die state than the one Wiles has photographed, as I cannot find the die cracks he mentions. I doubt it commands much of a premium, as it already is a $100 coin in MS-60, but it is a nice RPM.
