Coins back from PCGS

Big disappointment with the results. After three monts plus my coins were finally released from PCGS purgatory QA where they spent one month. Sent in four coins: 1847 1C, 1847/47 1C, 1834 50C and 1874-S $1 Trade
Dollar w/chop mark. Only the $1 received a grade, XF40. The most hurtful was the 1847 1C and second, the 1847/47 1C, returned as "AU-Cleaned" and "VF environmental damage", respectively. Picture of these two attached. I guess I had my hopes too high but what circulated 175 year old coin is not going to have some environmental damage?
The 50C is VF environmental damage.
How can I put a value on the coins other than the $1? Anyone have suggestions?

I really think they have carried the "cleaned" thing too far but that's a different discussion. Can't you just look up sold eBay listings to get a ballpark value ?

I've seen the value get whacked about a grade lower depending on how severe the issue is. The AU might price out at EF.
But it kind of depends on how desirable the coin is.
(I would think the 47/47 is bound to hold its value fairly well to a variety collector.)
