Acetone works fine. I've never heard of any metal having a negative reaction with pure acetone.

      Hi
I have used acetone on silver - seems to be ok. Use "oops" on some copper coins.
      Thx

Acetone on copper is fine EXCEPT not on copper proofs. It will make them turn orange.

Acetone is safe for ALL metals and ALL coins. In fact, all pure solvents are safe when used in moderation.

I've used acetone on ALL copper without adverse effect. If you coin turned orange, then you have surface contamination or bad acetone.

I agree. I've never had problems with acetone. It probably can't be pointed out enough though that the acetone that comes from nail polish and other sources is not pure acetone. Make sure it's pure. You can pick it up at any hardware store.

I have, under the scope, what looks like a green sand often against the numbers and letters or say in the holes of the B. Will Acetone remove it? Or trying something else? Thanks
