Anyone ever tried an Ultrasonic cleaner before on coins!!. I never thought of it til earlier today!. I use them all the time cleaning tattoo equipment and they work wonders on jewelry. I might try to put some Goo Gone or Verdi-Gone in it and see what happens.
NO..Whizzed (Buffed) coin is when you scratch it really bad, Not deep, with a brush of some sort and trying to fake Mint Lustre. This is a machine you set the coin in and it vibrates while loosening and cleaning ink in my tattoo tube before sterilizing!. I dont think it will harm it at all! Just take all the crud off without a thorn!!..Maybe!!
I could not get my ultra sonic jewelry cleaning machine to work on coins.
Just fair warning though, if you do use the machine do not use any of the cleaning products they may have included with the machine! I know the chemical they sold with the machine is brutal on sterling silver.

as long as it sets in a non metal dish may work, try a junk coin first then look with best loop/scope you have let us know what you see...grades look for rub marks and brush strokes...richard
No scubbing or metal contact at all. It sits in a plastic netlike tray and its really amazing how it even works. Just an ultrasonic vibrate. Its almost like the water is vibrating and not the machine. Its really odd!
