Mr Clean Magic Eraser on copper cents

I was just fooling around with a mr clean magic eraser and some 1958d wheat cents. The first set is with the mr clean dipped in water The first pic is before the second pic is after

After using the magic eraser i scoped them all and there where no scratches from the process on the cents.

Interesting but the coins look dull to me. Are you scrubbing with the eraser and then dipping it in the formentioed solutions? Ed

I used magic eraser on my hands once to remove paint ...it took my skin & the paint Vickilynn

The Magic eraser has a similar composition of a very soft sandpaper...so I would consider that it's use would abrade the coin...

I would not expect a dipped coin to get scratches from a dip. It is the existing circulation scratches although present will show clean to the bottom of the scratch.

That is one way i can tell if a coin has been dipped or cleaned.

But it is fun to experiment isn't it?
