    Jansjo USB

Apparently IKEA has come out with a USB version of their Jansjo LED light. I don't know how good they are yet. I'll be buying some this weekend (about 25 mile drive to my nearest IKEA) and will post results, but if interested here is the link:

I prefer the one I have now, which is the one with the base that plugs into your conventional outlet. I think adding one that requires being plugged into the computer reduces mobility, but that's just my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

I suppose that would depend on the purpose for which you use your lamp. USB lamp sounds pretty cool if it will constantly sit next to the computer. I have a lamp that doesn't move and constantly sits next to the computer - it wouldn't make any difference to me what sort of plug it had, and USB makes sense.

I'm thinking "USB Hub"...can be placed anywhere and can support multiple lights. Doesn't even have to be plugged in to a computer...Ray

Thanks Ray the idea sounds great. I have an adjustable led light but it is too wide and is clamped to my desk. This looks a lot more user friendly.

Ray--look at a local computer store near you also--I have picked up USB lights on sale for $1.99 and use them on mixing boards and books as I work. Depending on the led they can be weak to fair as far as illumination goes. Check this link:

Micro Center is right up the road from me and I check their stuff out a lot. Powered hubs un-tether you from a computer and I have to say the small size and goose necks make them very adaptable.

My Micro Center closed its doors a few months ago for some unknown reason. They seemed to be doing fine but now they're gone. I used to buy all my computer stuff from them.

I have a few of the various brands of USB lights and none of them have a decent color temp. Most are way too "cool", and not very bright. Unfortunately, I was not able to go to my IKEA today to get the Jansjos to test, and probably won't tomorrow either. Maybe Tues. I could check at Fry's I suppose to see what they have, but the 2700K rating on the Jansjo sets it apart somewhat from the others I've tested...Ray

Very true about the temperature on those---will be curious to see what you think of the Jansjo.
