I don't look at to many nickels, but this looks like its a DDO. Look at the RTY of Liberty the Date and Trust. There also looks like a dot above and below the right leg of IN. Not sure if that's anything. Need an expert opinion on it to be sure. Thx for the help Paul

I can not remember explicitly , but I recall many years ago that there was determined to be Master Die Doubling on the obverse of many nickels from the 40s. Let me see if I can track it down, but that might be what you have there.Bob Piazza

I don't know what Ken Potter was referring to as a 5c DDO on his site Bella, but Kevin has identifies what I was trying to recall from many yeas ago. Master die doubling was prevalent on 1944 Nickels, and yours may be one of them. Since I am not an expert on the nickels, I would refer that attribution to one of the other attributors.Bob Piazza
