Nice thing is I was able to see very well zooming in. It appears normal.

It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

I agree with Wendell with the addition that what is there may be either lighting effect or minor machine doubling.

        Lighting and/or strike doubling.

Regarding the 2 images, one shows what appears to be a doubling effect to the east while the other shows what appears to be a doubling effect to the west. (East and west, that is, had the images been oriented upright.)

Welcome to the LCR forum, you are in the best place to ask your Lincoln cent related questions. Feel free to ask and an answer will be provided. Thanks for sharing.

                Jennifer,

Welcome to LCR! I'm not seeing anything either, but some of the doubled dies for this year are subtle. Can you get close up images of where it is that you are seeing the apparent doubling, or tell us where it is that you are seeing this. Nice images BTW.

                  Hello ,
I have found a 1970-S with Machine Doubling & it appears alot like yours . I was able to sell it for $12 on Ebay . Also you can find a picture of the coin I sold on my profile here & compare it to yours (its in "Sold Finds" Album)

The 1970 cents seem to have received alot of MD. But with your coin i cant get a close enough view to tell.

Machine doubling....one giveaway is the doubling on the mint mark.It wouldn't be doubled on a doubled die because it was added after the die was made.

I agree with Maineman... If you are still in doubt send it in to be checked in hand... Pics do not always represent the coin well enough!!!

yeah the pics arnt showing what it actually looks like... the mint mark is NOT doubled.. now, aside from the mint mark dont pay attention to that because again themint mark IS NOT DOUBLED , what is the hypothetical diagnosis

Agree with Jfines then...send to an attributer because I see the same thing on the MM as I do on the date.
