I bet ya'll will be glad when I get a better camera! So will I! Anyway, last night I popped open 2 rolls and looked at that 2006P until I was blue in the face. And the first coin I pick up this morning looks like a double ear

Sorry, Vivian, that's a normal ear for the date. Look at some other 97 cents side by side and you'll see what I mean. All opinions expressed are not necessarily shared by willbrooks or his affiliates. Taking them may result in serious side effects. Results may vary. Offer not valid in New Jersey. -
Thank you all, and with all due respect I will put this coin aside until I get a better camera. Matter of fact, I am going to withhold any further postings until I get a better set up because it is not a fair representation of what I am seeing. And, it's got to be frustrating to you all as well. What I see is on this coin is an ear lobe on top of another one with a distinct separation between the two and I apologize that the photo does not show that. I am not trying to dispute your word, just trying to explain what I am seeing that I am unable to capture in photos.Comment

A new camera might help, but consider you lighting first. If you have too much light or a light that is not diffused, then you will get images that are glaring. You might want to consider this first. A single light source is best for taking images. When you have two lights, you will get two shadows and have too much glare. Even a secondary source like a room light or sunlight may give you light that is not desired.Richard S. Ok, leave it to me to find a weird earlobe. After I tried to make some adjustments to my camera, this is what I came up with. Honestly, what I am seeing is a strange ear and it looks like two lobes to me. Perhaps this ear just took a hit, something caused it to curl up.Comment

It's pretty much normal...maybe a hit on the east....but the main thing is that the normal size of the ear has nothing added.....that's where overlays help.Comment

Here is a great image for this variety:
Note the lower edge of the earlobe. You can see it better in that location.Richard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Newer members like these.Comment

Thank you coop... but that pic just makes me wonder again (please don't tell Maineman) because my coin has the same strange business going on at the top of the ear (at the hair) as the one in the picture you are referencing. Either way, I will just consider it a strange ear and let it go...Comment

Note the lower arrow. Looks at the horizontal full line on the first lobe. Note how it runs horizontal and then turns NW/SE. If you coin doesn't have this then it is not die 001. It kind of reminds me of the Arizona Border line. LOLRichard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Coop thank you, it took me a minute to figure out what you are saying but now I realize you are referring to the image you posted above. I see the squareness of the top ear lobe on your example and that helps tremendously!Comment
