1982P (DDO or Die Deterioration) ?

Here is an example of a 1982P Lincoln Cent. While it appears to be a DDO, I wonder if it is just die deterioration. What do you think?

Part of what I'm seeing, best way I can describe it is... it looks like the vertical and horizontal devices are sunken in in the middle with raised edges on each side. Is that what you are seeing? The reason I ask this is... I have noticed this before and wondered if it was just lighting and my scope. But, your photos are very good and show it better!

The extra thickness is actually on a lower level surrounding the devices. Due to that it has to be deterioration.

Yes, I see split plating on the 2 and above the T of Trust, unless that's leftover Jolly Rancher??

I've seen this before and for some reason I thought it was related to split face doubling but nothing I can find shows anything like this. I do feel like it is a plating issue but cannot find anything to back it up. I've seen this multiple times and it was always plated coins.

Jon, look at the close up of LIB and close up of E. That is the sunken thing I was trying to describe that I have always wondered if it's from die deterioration.

It's all over every pic he has. I posted something very similar to this when I first came to the site and I think I was told it had something to do with split plating. Not sure, can't find anything in the glossary or Error-ref that shows this. I have seen it several times though and have always just wrote it off as a plating issue.
