    1980 D Strange Anomaly?

I posted this 1980 D online a few years ago but never really got my questions answered then I came across this forum and hoping somebody knows what this is? I call it a strange anomaly but you folks may have seen it before, I have not. I've been told it's not DD or MD or PMD, at least I don't think it is. Any info is of course greatly appreciated.

You can see it on the mm and date in the same direction, it's MD. The die that made this coin is a late die state too, much deterioration.

    From our glossary. http://www.lincolncentforum.com/term...ine%20Doubling

I agree completely with makecents's reply. In my mind, it is so obvious that at the least it is MD, that I don't know of anyone who would think or tell you otherwise.

So Machine Doubling does not add value to a coin? Reason I ask is I'm pretty sure I have a handful of coins that have Machine Doubling.

You surely do. It is a very common occurrence, and as such commands no premium except for extreme examples. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks, Will. The OP asked Bob the question, so I let this be for the mean time.

I think Will answered the question perfectly. No need to say the same thing.
