Ok, I see that your 72' D has a clash mark of the nine but yours is offset from mine. Yours is more into the memorial building and looking at Stevens Memorial Overlay picture I would say that yours has a minor misaligned die strike. I also don't see the clash marks from Lincolns coat so different dies but similar results.
    Isn't this fun!

This is fun! I guess that's why I've been doing this for 40 years! This coin still perplexes me Lestrrr. I may have to do a bit more research on it.

One thing that I found interesting is that there is no die polish lines. I figured there would be to get rid of the clash marks. I guess these could be the only details transferred from the clash and I just happened to find a coin before the mint worker did the filing. You know like a "First Clash Strike". Since people throw out stupid names I figured I would do one. That's enough of that.

        Thanks,
        Lestrrr

P.S. Bob if you need this coin for inspection, just let me know.

Louis, those are might pretty pennies... er, cents!
I really like the clashed dies that make me think 'where the heck did this come from?.
Same goes for the dropped letters.
