      While we would probably agree "buy the coin and not the holder", in the auction world, PCGS and NGC are apples and oranges. It's normal for PCGS to fetch that kind of a premium over the same grade in an NGC holder. If the holder had been ANACS, it would have probably sold for $1500. Mind you, it could have been the exact same coin, but that's just how the market reacts to the coveted PCGS plastic.

        LOL, I did not notice it was an NGC. That makes more sense. I need to go to bed. 3 am wake up time is getting near.

          I only ever want to see three a.m. if I meet it from this side of the night. If I had to wake up at that time I'd probably mistake a cardboard flip for a PCGS holder.

            For that much money I'd rather have a nice MS63 14-D but then I'm not into the registry sets.
            Probably someone wanted it for their PCGS registry set and sprung for it.
