    1969D Doubled Die question

Some time ago I posted a 69D that I think is a doubled die. It got shot down, but has been bugging me since.

Today I did an overlay and the date and the mint mark look to be an exact match. Problem is, this coin has no die scratches so I can't match any die markers. Is it possible that this is it, just a very early die state? Would there be other 69D's with the exact mint mark placement as the doubled die?

Thank you for helping me on this one!

      Here it is Jon http://www.lincolncentforum.com/foru...ighlight=1969D

My photo on this link does not show what I see with a loupe... which I don't have right now because I can't find the darn thing... but I have looked at this coin many times and could not forget about it. Today I ran across it again and decided to do an overlay.

This photo I took today shows what I am seeing a little better.

I would like to see what you're seeing Viv but I don't. I see no notching or spread in either of the pics but I know it's different with coin in hand. The only thing I can tell you is to to send it to someone to have it attributed if you feel that strongly about it.

The photos are a bit tough to tell for certain, but I see what could be doubing west/south of 6 and 9. The mint mark positioning looks roughly correct for coppercoins 1DO-001. I'd take a look in hand if you are interested. Jim also does a great job with coins in hand, and takes excellent photos. He might take a look if you ask.

Thank you very much Jon and Dan for taking a look. The close spread on this doubled die is so slight, and I think that is what I am seeing. It looks like a shadow on my pic above. If I could just find one die marker... the field looks pretty flawless to me with the exception of some circulation dings. Dan, I would love to send it to you, or to Jim and appreciate your offer to help!

Do you think it might help to take pics from different angles with various lighting?

Thank you so much TPring! Ahhhh... one whole year basking in the glory of a victorious win! I love the Eye of the Tiger Auburn theme song, but this year it's gonna be Give it away... give it away... give it away now!

Man, I already tried to get the best photo I could and it's still not good enough. I appreciate your support! This is probably one to send to someone.

Thank you very much Shannon! I've been hanging on to this one for a long time and every time I see it again, it bugs the stew out of me! I'm confused that VV shows it POP 2, 1 raw and PCGS/CPG doesn't even have the DDO, but they are all over the NO FG?? Some things just don't make sense to me no matter how hard I try to understand!

Ha, not sure if you are kidding there but, we know all about giving it away [ala Seahaux Superbowl loss to NE a few years ago whereby they threw an interception at the one yard line with no time left].

I was mainly referring to not giving up on the possible DDO.

Yes Sir, we are on the same page! And that Seahawks Superbowl loss is exactly the type of example I was referring to with yesterday's Auburn vs. Bama game!

Don't worry, I don't give up very easy

I'm with Dan on this... In your second pic I can see what you are talking about... Those bumps off the 6 and 9 look to be in the same spot as CCs sample and are stronger... Not sure on MM position but it is really close... I would be more than happy to get some pics for you... Dan offered first so now it is time for you to be our Ambassador

Thank you Jim for taking a look for me! You and Dan are both awesome to offer to help me out with this one! Oh no... what's a girl to do? You know... I still have the 92D CLAM to send to Bob and I've been trying to think of 2 other coins I have to do a 3 coin submission with PCGS. If this is the 69D DDO, would it be a good one to slab? I can't find much info on it.
