I wish I could get that when I went to McDonalds. The best I get is a case of bubble gut.

The edges would be the tell tale area to look for re-plating.

That is so cool!! It's been awhile but every blue moon I'll get some silver back in change and of course it has it's own little sound. I've never had the person giving it to me have a clue. The same with people paying attention to blue and red note bills. Very nice haul!! Congrats!!

It's tough to tell by pics, most original ones are satin finished, the edges aren't really plated because the strips were plated then the blanks punched out of them so the only plating on the edges is whatever smeared from punching. Another tell tale is if the cheeks or ears are slightly worn but that's hard to see since steel didn't wear fast. My guess is they are re-plated because of the shiny finish and fully plated edges but not 100% sure by the pics.

Still a very cool find in the wild.
